Galvanised steel is typically a dull grey looking material. The galvanised coating sits on top of the base metal forming a hard shell, protecting the steel underneath from most environments.
Galvanised steel is some of the hardest steel available, and is used where steel is required, without it rusting, such as the outside of buildings, and high water content areas – it’s a tough substance which looks good in most environments – and is used in sinks, car finishes, and a variety of other uses. It is the most common type of steel for making tubing, or piping, and can withstand most organic processes including acids and alkalis, without too much staining or deterioration in most cases. Galvanised steel is a clean, functional looking finish and is well worth using in unusual or harsh environments.
